How it all started

It all started with a simple yet heartfelt act of love. As a Godmother, I wanted to give the best Easter gifts to my Godchildren, but I struggled to find candles that fit my vision. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and started decorating my own candles. It wasn't long before my friends and family noticed my creations and began placing orders of their own.

I fell in love with candle-decorating and relished the opportunity to share my passion with others. I demonstrated the art of candle-making at a Greek school, and the response from the parents who wanted to buy my candles was encouraging. This led to a stall at the school, and eventually, a permanent spot at Oakleigh Central each Easter. But it wasn't until I participated in the Antipodes Festival in Melbourne that I realised the potential of my hobby business. People were drawn to the unique candles I was making, and the demand for my creations grew.

Over the years, I continued to refine and perfect my craft. Eventually, I decided to not only decorate candles but also to make them from scratch, hand-dipping and hand-pouring with natural vegetable waxes, colour, fragrance, and designing accessories. I also expanded my offerings to include livani (incense) and other giftware, usually incorporating resin.

As technology evolved, so did my business. To keep up with the increasing demand, I made the big decision to move my production out of my home and into a studio in Richmond, Victoria. This has allowed me to increase production and offer workshops and art for therapy classes, bringing joy and creativity to even more people.

This journey has been long and fulfilling, and almost 30 years on, I am grateful for every step of it. I am proud to have turned my passion for candle-making into a growing business, and I am inspired by the love and support of my customers. The most rewarding moment for me is at midnight of the Resurrection Service, knowing that my candles are collectively lit in prayer, bringing joy to people as they celebrate new life.

This isn't just a job for me, it's a labor of love. Each candle is crafted with care and intention, and I am honored to be a part of so many special moments in people's lives. I am excited for the future and look forward to continuing to spread love and light, one candle at a time.

Labour of Love

“Every candle tells a story, warms a heart, and brightens a room, igniting the spirit and kindling the soul.”

Philosophy

My philosophy is rooted in my deep spiritual beliefs and the Orthodox Christian tradition. I believe in the power of prayer and the significance of candles in religious ceremonies. This is why I take great care in handcrafting each and every one of my candles, pouring my love and intention into every pour of wax. My candles are made with natural vegetable wax blends, which not only provide a clean, slow-burning flame but also align with my commitment to holistic, mindful living.

My candles are more than just functional objects - they are sacred tools that bring light and warmth to your home and heart. I believe that the act of lighting a candle has the power to create a peaceful, grounding atmosphere and to connect us to a higher power. With each flicker of the flame, I hope to instill a sense of peace, comfort, and joy in those who use my candles.

It is my goal to not only bring beauty into your life but to also provide a connection to a greater purpose. I am honoured to be a part of your spiritual journey and to share in the creation of meaningful moments.

Inspiration

Inspiration can come from many different sources, and for me, it often comes from travel, other artists, curiosity, and my Greek culture and background. However, I find that inspiration mostly arises from within, as I'm constantly searching for new ways to challenge myself and refine my craft. Curiosity is a driving force behind my work, and I'm always seeking to learn new techniques and explore new ideas.

As a self-taught artist, I've learned by constantly practicing and experimenting with new materials and techniques. Many times, I've learned from my mistakes, refining my process until I'm able to create something truly unique and beautiful. I'm passionate about the creative process and find it deeply fulfilling to bring an idea to life, even if it takes years of experimentation and practice.

These sources of inspiration have been a constant presence throughout my life, influencing my art in a variety of ways. When I travel to new places, I'm always struck by the beauty and uniqueness of each location, and these experiences often inspire me to create new pieces of art. I also find inspiration in the work of other artists, whose creativity and passion for their craft often motivates me to explore new ideas and take creative risks.
